Dry-Type Transformer Repair

Magnitosila repairs dry-type transformers only. The work is based on our in-house experience in manufacturing magnetic cores, steelwork and transformer-equipment components.

The main purpose of repair is to restore transformer operation and eliminate the underlying cause of damage, rather than limit the work to cosmetic restoration.

What we do

• diagnosis based on photographs, the nameplate, a description of the fault and inspection results;
• manufacture of burnt-out or damaged windings from a sample;
• winding replacement and restoration of terminals;
• repair of mechanical damage, fixings and insulation components;
• repair and restoration of dry-type transformer magnetic cores;
• assembly inspection before handover to the customer.

How the work is organised

For an initial assessment, please send photographs of the transformer and damaged areas, the nameplate details and a brief description of the fault. When documentation is unavailable, we can work from a sample: dimensions, construction and the condition of damaged components are clarified during inspection.

After the assessment, the repair scope, the need for replacement windings, lead time and delivery conditions are agreed. This approach is particularly valuable where production downtime costs more than manufacturing a new component.

When repair is appropriate

Repair of a dry-type transformer is appropriate for local damage to windings, terminals, insulation, fixings or the magnetic core, and where a replacement transformer with the same parameters cannot be obtained quickly.
